Build Ram temple or face defeat in 2019, says Mahant Suresh Das

Lucknow: In a major development, Mahant Suresh Das of Digambar Akhara has said that if Ram temple construction does not begin this year, then the BJP is bound to face defeat in 2019 Lok Sabha elections. “The BJP has a substantial majority, the President belongs to BJP and the party has an overwhelming majority in the UP government. If Ram temple cannot be constructed now, then when can it be constructed? If the BJP shies away from this issue now, the party cannot hope to win elections next year”, he said.

He asked the Prime Minister to bring a law in Parliament since the matter would take years in the Supreme Court.

Mahant Suresh Das said that the saints and seers of Ayodhya would soon launch an agitation if the Modi government did not take necessary steps. Mahant Satyendra Das, the head priest of the makeshift Ram temple said that the saints of the country should sit together and think about an alternative to BJP which doesn’t seem  keen on the Ram temple.

Mr Iqbal Ansari, one of the plaintiffs in the Babri case said that if the saints wanted to start temple construction then the other party would also start mosque construction.

“It was mutually decided that both the parties would wait for the Supreme Court to decide the case  but if the Hindu leaders are determined to start temple construction, then Muslims will also initiate construction of mosque and the governments will be responsible for the consequences”, he warned.
