Woman held for flying drone camera near Hyderabad's Charminar

Hyderabad police had banned drones in April after receiving inputs from intelligence agencies about the possibility of terror attacks.

Hyderabad: A 26-year-old woman was booked for flying a drone near the historic monument Charminar on Thursday night.

On receiving information about the woman, police reached the spot and seized the drone camera, remote control and started the investigation.

According to Station House Officer, Charminar police station, "On Thursday night, a 26-year-old woman, Suparna Nath, was flying a drone camera at Charminar, which is a violation of prohibitory orders of the Hyderabad commissioner of police. A case has been registered under section 70(b) CP Act and 188 IPC."

As per a notification issued by Commissioner of Police and Executive Magistrate of Hyderabad City, government agencies and organisations need to obtain appropriate clearance from local police and aviation authorities before launching any Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), Unmanned Aerial Survey (UAS) for any purpose.

"Any person contravening this order shall be punishable under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860," the notification further stated.

Earlier, Hyderabad police banned the use of drones for a month in April after receiving inputs from the intelligence agencies about the possibility of terror attacks.
