New Delhi: Justifying Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s jibe at Congress president Rahul Gandhi that “your father’s life ended as bhrashtachari No 1,” the BJP on Sunday counted 1984 anti-Sikh riots, Bhopal gas tragedy, Shah Bano case and the Bofors deal to claim that “Congress’s dynasts” are “afraid of the truth”.

The ruling party claimed that Mr Gandhi and party general secretary Priyanaka Gandhi Vadra could not handle the truth against the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and started hurling abusive at Mr Modi.

Mr Modi, who had made this remarks on Saturday in response to Mr Gandhi’s statement that he wanted to tarnish the PM’s image, drew sharp criticism from the Congress, which accused him of “crossing all limits of propriety and decency”. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra reacted saying that the “remark reflected Mr Modi’s uncontrolled madness”.

Union minister Prakash Javadekar justified Mr Modi’s remark and said the late Prime Minister had “justified”. Sikhs genocide and gave the “worst kind of logic” to justify it and his government was responsible for letting the Union Carbide Corporation’s Warren Anderson to flee India after the Bhopal gas tragedy and did injustice in the Shah Bano case and had the Bofors scam accused misused his family ties with the then ruling family.

“When Mr Modi said the truth yesterday, the brother sister duo started hurling abuses at the PM...they called an honest PM a thief, Hitler, merchant of death and now you say karma is awaiting for him. It is the good karma of Mr Modi and the nation that is awaiting,” said Mr Javadekar who added that the Congress leadership is jittery as a man from a humble background has challenged a dynast.

Asserting that Congress’s “dynasts” are afraid of the truth and was the reason why Mr Gandhi tried to falsely accuse the BJP of corruption in the Rafale deal.

“The dynasts are afraid of the truth. Rahul Gandhi tried to falsely accuse us in the Rafale deal for a full year but failed miserably. They are worried that BJP's record is cleaner than theirs," he said.
