The incident took place at Akaha village as a chunk of earth caved in trapping five persons under rubble while they were digging soil from underneath the surface for domestic use, Beldaur police station in-charge Shashi Kumar said.

While four persons, identified as Kanchan Devi (25), Kajal Kumari (14), Suriman Kumari (14) and Nasri Khatun (12) died on the spot, a seven year-old boy Krishna Kumar sustained injuries, he said.
