Bhopal: Rashtriya Kisan Mazdoor Sangh (RKMS), a farmers’ body headed by ex-RSS leader Shiv Kumar Sharma, ruled out engagement with Madhya Pradesh government to end the 10-day “gram bandh” stir called by various ryot outfits which began on Friday.

Significantly, fissures appeared among the farmers’ outfits with Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) accusing RKMS chief of trying to hijack the stir to serve his own interest.

“As soon as we prepare ground for agitation by farmers, Mr Sharma dons the mantle of captain. This is an agitation by farmers and not by any political party,” BKU president Anil Yadav told reporters.

Mr Yadav said the farmers have been cautioned not to take support of any political party and become their vote bank.

Earlier, addressing a press conference here, Mr Sharma said there was no chance of farmers’ organisations going for negotiation with MP government to end the agitation.

“The MP government cannot be relied upon,” he said.
