Bhopal: The raging debate over Hanuman’s caste on Friday took a new turn with a seer here claiming that the mythological hero belonged to the Jain religion.

Jain seer Acharya Nirbhaya Sagar Maharaj claimed that Bajrangbali was one of the 24 forms of Kamdev mentioned in Jain religion.

“Hanumanji is a Jain since he is considered one of the 24 forms of Kamdev in Jain religion,” he told reporters here.

Meanwhile, the Congress’s Rajasthan unit has lodged a complaint against Adityanath for his remark with the Election Commission and Rajasth-an’s Chief Electoral Office.

The Congress said it fears that Adityanath’s statement to call Lord Hanuman a ‘Dalit’ can harm communal harmony. Such a statement in the poll-bound state is against the model code of conduct, the party said.
