Bhopal: The email ID circulated by special investigation team (SIT) constituted by Madhya Pradesh police to probe the sensational honey-trap scandal seeking information from public on the functioning of the racket, has evoked huge response, sources in SIT told this newspaper on Monday.

The SIT has opened the email ID exclusively for the public exhorting them to throw further light on the activities of the accused found involved in the honey trapping and blackmailing their high profile victims, who included politicians and babus, assuring them of their anonymity.

“The email ID has received more than 100 mails so far. While some of the emails have shared inputs on the activities of the racketeers, others have tipped off on sex rackets being carried out in their areas, not linked to the honey-trap gang. We have referred the information on these sex rackets to the authorities concerned for action,” a senior police officer said.

The SIT was mulling to conduct raids at some places based on inputs volunteered by people, sources added.

Meanwhile, the SIT has recovered more videos and photographs allegedly linked to honey-trap scandal at some places in Bhopal and Sagar in Madhya Pradesh, during course of its investigation, sources said.

In another development, the investigators suspected that the victims in some cases may have sponsored foreign trips of some accused involved in the racket as a bait to bail themselves out.

“We are examining the passports of the accused to dig out if any of them had made foreign trips during the period”, a source said.

Five women, who included a BJP leader and a Congress activist, and their driver were arrested  last fortnight in connection with the scandal.

The incident came to light after an Indore Municipal Corporation  (IMC) engineer filed a complaint.
