New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday issued notices to the Centre and the chairman of JEE, IIT, on a petition challenging the awarding of grace marks to wrong questions in the entrance examination.

A bench of Justices A.M. Sapre and Sanjay Kishan Kaul issued the notices and posted the petition by one Balaram Vishnu Subramani of Vellore, Tamil Nadu, for further hearing on July 7. The petitioner had sought a stay on counselling for admissions but the court refused.

The petitioner pointed out that question papers in English were perfect, but papers in Hindi were wrong.

However, IIT gave grace marks to all students, irrespective of whether they attempted the wrong question or not. He challenged the grant of such marks and wanted a revised merit list.
