Train derails near Assam, no casualties

Guwahati: Long-distance train Hum Safar Express between Agartala and Bengaluru on Tuesday derailed between Churaibari and Kalkalighat stations under Lumding division of Northeast Frontier Railway at about 8 am. However, no casualty was reported.

Spokesperson of the Northeast Frontier Railway Pranav Jyoti Sharma said that two wheels of the front trolley of the engine got derailed at a location about 26 km away from Karimganj station.

“There is no causality, no injury to anyone in the incident. Accident relief train (ART) immediately left from Badarpur for the site. Additional general manager and senior officials from the headquarters and division also rushed to the spot,” said Mr Sharma.
