MP collapses in House; row erupts over his treatment
A former minister, Mr Ahmed suffered a heart attack and fell down during President Mukherjee’s speech in Parliament.
New Delhi: Controversy erupted over Lok Sabha MP E. Ahamed’s treatment at the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital here late Tuesday night when Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi were not allowed to see him. Hospital authorities said that he was in ICU.
A former minister, Mr Ahmed suffered a heart attack and fell down during President Mukherjee’s speech in Parliament.
Mr Ahamed’s children told the media that they were also not being allowed to see him and questioned the hospital, asking whose “consent” had been taken before putting him on life support.
The Congress is planning to raise this issue in Parliament.
