In a freak accident, a six-year-old boy died after being accidentally hit by a javelin in the eye at a private school in Kushinagar district.
The incident took place at Thakur Harikesh Pratap Inter College, a private school in the Bishanpura police station area of the district, on Friday.
The child’s parents have not lodged an FIR and school authorities claimed that they did not know who threw the javelin.
The victim, Murad, a kindergarten student, was having lunch during recess when he was hit by the javelin in the eye.
The boy was taken to the district hospital but died during treatment.
The victim’s grandfather Suleman told reporters that the incident occurred while some children were practising javelin throw for Independence Day sports activities. He said that one of the students called up Murad’s father and informed him of the mishap. He said that the family would soon decide whether to file an FIR against school authorities for their negligence.
The autopsy was conducted in Gorakhpur and the body has been handed over to the family.
The owner and manager of the school Jitendra Singh admitted that some students were practising when the javelin hit Murad.
“It was an accident and our sympathies are with the family,” he said.
He denied that there was a javelin practice session going on when the incident took place.

The child’s father is employed as a private driver in Himachal Pradesh and he lived with his mother and grandfather in Kushinagar.
