Two youth were killed and 100 others wounded as stone-pelting mobs and security forces clashed in south Kashmir areas on Saturday, taking the toll to 78 in the last nine weeks of unrelenting violence.

The casualties were reported even as hundreds of soldiers moved to south Kashmir facing violence since a militant’s encounter killing on July 8.

Yawar Mushtaq Dar (23) died of pellet wounds in Anantnag, while Sayar Ahmed Sheikh (25) succumbed to injuries caused by teargas shells in Shopian.

Similar clashes took place at a dozen other places elsewhere in the Valley that remained shut for the 64th day because of curfew and shutdown restrictions.
