However, the prime accused, along with a dozen others allegedly involved in the incident, was still absconding, an official of the crime branch which is probing the matter said. The investigating officer, however, declined to identify the key accused in the attack in the “interest of the probe”.
“All the assailants were minors,” he indicated.
Chief minister Raman Singh has condemned the incident and ordered a crime branch probe into it. A preliminary probe by the police had earlier indicated that the attack was the outcome of a long-running dispute over the establishment of the church on encroached land.
