Animal communicator Pooja Advani breaks down the benefits of this up-and-coming form of alternative therapy for animals.

All pet parents always want the best for their furry babies, but the one challenge most of them struggle with is when they are met with a situation where they can’t quite put a finger on what their pet needs or wants.

“I wish I could just talk to my pets like I do with my friends, and understand how I could make them more comfortable” is a thought that’s crossed almost all pet parents’ minds.

Turns out there is a way to better understand your pet – via animal communication. “It’s a way to telepathically communicate with animals and help pet parents provide the best possible care to their four-legged friends,” explains Pooja Advani, certified groomer, canine behaviorist, trainer, hydro therapist for small animals, an animal communicator and founder of Mumbai-based luxury pet wellness centre Doggiie Dog World (DDW).

To put it simply, animal communication is the ability to feel and understand an animal’s emotions without having to communicate verbally or by using physical signals. It’s essentially a form of mental communication.

Pooja, who has always shared a special bond and deep connection with animals decided to pursue animal communication to bridge the gap between pets and their pet parents, and to aid communication in times when fully understanding a pet’s needs might pose a challenge.

Pooja uses animal communication as a tool to heal pets. She couples it with Bach therapy to help soothe pets that might be suffering. “Bach therapy is a safe and natural method of healing. This alternative form of medicine helps restore the balance between mind and body by casting out negative emotions. Sometimes the world around us becomes a bit too much for our pets too. They feel the same emotions just like you and me, they feel fear, anger, jealousy, depression, happiness and joy, which sometimes can result in changed behavior. Having no side effects, Bach therapy is a gentle way of treatment. It helps your pet stay calm in what could be a stressful situation and eases any pent-up mental tension,” she explains.

Coupled with Bach therapy, animal communication for pets can help tackle the following problems:

.    Aggression

.    Stressful visits to the vet

.    Adapting to new environments

.    Excessive barking or hissing

.    Separation anxiety

.    Shock, trauma or mistreatment

.    Obsessive grooming

.    Any emergency situation

.    Possessiveness

.    Skin disorders

.    Pica/Eating disorder

.    Fears and phobias

In the past, Pooja has used animal communication to tackle all the above-mentioned problems, as well as, to locate missing animals.

Scroll down for some common misconceptions and myths surrounding animal communication:

It’s okay to use animal communication recreationally: “Animal communication is not a circus trick, and not something that should be used to make your pet dance to your tunes or as a form of entertainment,” says Pooja. Of late, animal communication has become a fad of sorts, wherein pet parents hire animal communicators to ask banal questions that might not assist them in improving the quality of pet care they provide. Pooja is a professional who has a strict policy against using animal communication frivolously. “It’s okay as long as you’re using it as a form of therapy or using it to ensure your pet is not in discomfort or to maybe locate a pet that has wandered away. When used otherwise, it can put pets under unwarranted stress,” she explains.

Animal communication is a gift you are born with: “Many people believe that one needs to have psychic abilities to be able to communicate with animals, when in fact it is very much a skill that can be learnt. All one needs is to have a good teacher and a high level of empathy,” explains Pooja.

Animal communication is a hoax: For those who might not have experienced the benefits of animal communication first-hand, the practice might seem illegitimate. “I have a plethora of clients who have successfully been able to locate missing pets, and relieve their pets of stress all thanks to animal communication, which is why I always make it a point to share my past experiences and success stories with my clients,” explains Pooja.
