During a speech at John’s birthday party on Thursday night, West, who was praising his good friend and longtime collaborator, said he remembered advising Legend not to use the word ‘ordinary’ in the title of his smash-hit breakout single Ordinary People in 2005, reported the New York Daily News.
“I was incorrect about that one,” West said.
The speech was a highlight of the star-studded bash, which celebrated Legend’s 36th birthday as well as the 10th anniversary of his debut album, Get Lifted.
The singer, whose birthday is December 28, was joined by gorgeous model wife Chrissy Teigen, West and his wife, Kim Kardashian, and around 40 friends for dinner at Catch in the Meatpacking District.
According to sources, the Wests arrived late for the meal, but the people sitting opposite Teigen and Legend were hastily moved so the couple could sit across from the birthday boy.
