While the Armymen overcame Indian Air Force 3-1, Indian Railways blanked Punjab and Sind Bank 2-0, thanks to Amit Rohidas’ efforts in Pool A games.
In the first game of the day, Eliazar Lakra put Army XI ahead through a penalty conversion in the fourth minute, before Ved Prakash doubled the score 12 minutes later.
Leading 2-0 into the second half, the Armymen continued in the same vein and scored their third goal through Chandan Aind in the 59th minute.
Few minutes later, IAF finally managed to open their account through Alam (67th) but it was too little too late.
In the other tie, Rohidas converted the penalties for Indian Railways in the 15th and 40th minutes even as the Bankmen failed to put up resistance.
