The teams put up a close fight in the first half. Holders PNB broke the deadlock with a strike from Ranjeet Singh, who found the net in the 32nd minute.

ONGC, however, came back stronger in the second half and played an attacking game. Diwakar Ram brought them level with a penalty corner conversion in the 44th minute. Tyron Perera, also named the player of the match, put ONGC ahead in the 53rd minute and the team took control of the proceedings thereafter.

Sumit Kumar added another four minutes later as ONGC led 3-1. Damandeep Singh pulled back one for the bankmen in the dying minutes, but PNB could not make further inroads.

Indian Oil, Air India, Air Force, BSF, Indian Railway and Punjab & Sind Bank are the other participating teams.
