NCC Directorate (Junior Red) booked their berth in Phase II of the 44th Nehru junior hockey tournament at Shivaji Stadium in the capital on Tuesday, thrashing Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Jashpur Nagar, 11-0 in a Pool A match.
Ashwin Kujur and Jay Prakash Patel scored a hat-trick each, while Mathedius Kullu and Sanjay Xalco hit a brace. Suman Beck added to the tally.
Earlier in Pool E, Muzaffarpur’s Tirhut Academy posted a 8-0 win over AMMR Government Higher Secondary School from Wayanad, Kerala.
The winners led 3-0 at half time following a strike each from Anwarullah Shah, Bhaskar Singh and Waqar Yunus. Tirhut Academy continued their domination in the second half too. Shah added two more, while Devendra Bist and Sourav Kumar (two) piled on the Kerala side’s misery.
In Pool D, NCC Directorate (Blue) and Baroda’s Urmi School and Hostel played out a 3-3 draw. Dilpreet Singh (two) and Karandeep Singh scored for NCC, while Vaibhav Shah struck all three goals for Urmi Sr Secondary School.
