AS Roma’s Jonatan Lucca has joined Indian Super League franchise FC Pune City bolstering their midfield for the 2016 season.

The 22-year-old played for FC Goa in 2015 and netted thrice in 16 appearances.

The Brazilian youngster began his career with local club Internacional when he caught the eye of AS Roma. In his three-year stint with the Giallorossi, the midfielder scored nine goals in 32 appearances.

Expressing his excitement, Lucca said he was looking ahead to his second stint in India.

“This certainly will be one of the biggest challenges of my career so far. The team have gathered some quality signings from India as well as abroad and with Antonio Habas at the helm of things, I am sure this will help me develop my career in the way and at the right club,” he said.

Added head coach Habas, “He was one of the best midfielders playing in the league last year. He is young, fast and will bring life to our midfield with his speed. That’s exactly why we decided to get him to our club FC Pune City.”

FC Goa retain Mateu Meanwhile, FC Goa have re-signed Spaniard Jofre Mateu Gonsales 36, for the third season of the League.

The Spanish midfielder becomes the first overseas signing of the season as the club look to build their squad for the upcoming season.

He is expected to lead the charge along with talismanic striker Robin Singh.

Jofre said, “I am very happy to re-sign with FC Goa again. We had a great campaign last year and the people of Goa really made me feel welcome. I felt an instant connect with the Goan crowds who came to watch our matches and they played a huge role in inspiring us on our path to the final. I cannot wait to experience more of the same passionate support this year. Just like last year, I will give it my all for the club on and off the pitch.”

Two more join Mumbai City FC Mumbai City FC on Tuesday announced the signings of Roberto Volpato Netto and Lucian Goian from Brazil and Romania, respectively.

Netto, originally a Brazilian goalkeeper, was part of the team who finished runners-up in the Conmebol Copa Sudamericana in 2013.

Netto has amassed experience in top Brazilian and Portuguese leagues, including clubs such as Vasco da Gama. At 6’ 4”, the goalkeeper makes for a formidable figure in goal.

Goian, a former Under-21 centre back for his home country has spent the majority of his career playing in the top division of the Romanian League and emerged a two-time Romanian Cup Winner, including the most recent one in 2015-16.

He has played for top clubs such as Dinamo Bucuresti in the Uefa Champions League, making for a lot of experience at the best level.
