Jeje Lalpekhlua and Cornell Glenn scored a brace each as Mohun Bagan began their AFC Cup campaign on a rousing note thrashing Maziya Sports and Recreation Club of the Maldives 5-1 in their home leg game in Guwahati on Wednesday.
Bagan, the reigning I-League champions, dominated proceedings throughout and Sony Norde put the side ahead in the 19th minute before Lalpekhlua recorded his first to double the score.
Just before half time, Bagan consolidated on the lead through Glenn (35th).
The Maldives side regrouped after the break and created several chances, and finally pulled one back through Ahmed Imaaz in the 61st minute.
Lalpekhlua and Glenn then added one each to seal the issue for Bagan.
