Mumbai FC will seek home solace when they take on Sporting Clube de Goa in their I-League 10th round match here on Saturday.

Khalid Jamil’s side started the season well, but they have been hit by injuries to key players including skipper Taisuke Matsugae. They are coming off back-to-back away defeats, 2-3 defeat against Sporting Clube and 0-2 loss to Aizawl FC last week.

MFC are now currently sixth with nine points from eight games. Sporting, who lost to table toppers Mohun Bagan last week, now occupy the fourth position with 11 points also from eight matches.

Mumbai FC are unbeaten in their last six games at home, having won four of them. But they are yet to beat their Goan rivals in the last six meetings.

The hosts are still sweating on the fitness of Taisuke and defender Min-Chol Son. To counter their injury woes, Mumbai FC have sought reinforcements in the form of new signings in goalkeeper Sandeep Nandy and left winger Clifford Miranda.

Sporting striker Odafa Okolie, who is one of the top scorers in the league this season (five from eight games) will be the main threat and the hosts will have to repeat their previous shows here where they held Bagan and defeated Bengaluru FC and Salgaocar.

Meanwhile, in Vasco, Mohun Bagan will be the outright favourites against laggards Salgaocar FC.

Unbeaten so far, Bagan have 18 points after eight matches (five wins and three draws). Salgaocar, on the other hand, are second from bottom with one win, two draws and five losses.

Given the form that Bagan have displayed so far, it will be a tough task for Salgaocar to upstage the Kolkata giants despite playing them on home turf.
