Beaten twice by FC Goa in the league phase, Delhi Dynamos will start as underdogs in their first leg semi-final of the Indian Super League football tournament against the same opponents here on Friday.
Goa finished on top of the ISL league table and won both their league games against the Dynamos — 2-0 at home and 3-2 away — and current form gives them the advantage at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
Goa’s last win came here last week when they bounced back from two goals down in the first session to script a remarkable 3-2 victory that took them to the top of the table and left Delhi Dynamos in fourth place.
By virtue of that win, Goa took advantage of playing the second leg of their semi-final at home. The capital’s football fans were treated to five goals in that league encounter though they must have been disappointed that the home team lost. It promises to be a fascinating contest between attack-minded Goa and defensively solid Delhi.
‘Better Offer’
Meanwhile, Delhi coach Roberto Carlos has revealed he will not feature in the ISL next season. “I won’t be coming back to ISL next season as I have got a better offer from another club. This is football. You get better offers and you leave. I won’t be able to tell you which one it is. You will all know,” Carlos, who was considered as one of the best left backs in the history of the sport said.
