Prince Narula refuses to play Lord Shiva

Generally actors refuse roles citing date issues or simply because they didn’t like the roles. But Prince Narula declined to essay the character of Lord Shiva in his current show Badho Bhau for a completely different reason. The actor was asked to play the role for  a scene where his wife Badho imagines Lucky — Prince’s onscreen character — as Lord Shiva. To everyone’s surprise the actor declined to play the role.

The concerned episode was a special one for Mahashivratri. It so happened that Prince, who is a fitness freak, follows a strict diet, which involves eating a lot of protein. Since Prince had already consumed some chicken for breakfast the same day, he refused to play Lord Shiva. Eventually the entire scene had to be called off and a new script was written.

Talking about the incident, the actor shares, “The screenplay had just come in and I was briefed about the scene. I was asked to play Lord Shiva at a very short notice. I can’t play the role of any God the day I have non-vegetarian food. I am particular about following certain religious norms. Had they told me in advance, I would have made sure I didn’t consume non-veg on that particular day. Well, it was my personal call, and I am glad that my producer Deeptiji allowed me to skip the scene.”
