Pregnancy made renowned television actress Tasneem Sheikh take a break from work and that sabbatical stretched to eight and a half years. The actress, who is now set to make a comeback with Ek Vivah Aisa Bhi, reflects, “My focus when I left the industry was my child and it stayed on her till the time she said to me ‘Mumma you need to get back to work.’  Apparently she learnt from a friend at school that her mother was an actress so one fine day she came to me and asked me if I was indeed one. She was very happy to discover I used to act and then she saw my videos on Youtube. After a few days, she said to me that since she’s not home all day, I could start working again. She is the one who pushed me to work again. Otherwise I would not have come back. Honestly, it is not that I never got an offer in the last eight and a half years but I wasn’t interested”.

The actress further shares, “My character Sindhura Mittal in Ek Vivah Aisa Bhi is a very strong woman. She will indirectly rule the entire show.”

The actress also adds that she was shaking in her boots the first day of the shoot but was soon comfortable in the skin of her character. “On the first day of my shoot I was so nervous that I kept telling my husband I couldn’t pull it off.  But the moment I reached the shoot’s location and entered my makeup room, it felt as if I had never left acting. I became the same actress I used to be. I even knew the camera angles well. My experience just came back to me and the first take was okay,” says Tasneem.

Being one of the most known faces on the show puts a lot of the responsibility of getting the ratings on her shoulders. Point that out and the actress doesn’t deny the pressure. “I know it’s quite a lot of pressure but I believe in myself. This inner strength comes from my upbringing. I will do whatever it takes to keep the show going,” she signs off.
