Punjabi singer touches 100 million mark

He touched many hearts with his song Soch, but it could have been the lost song of singer Hardy Sandhu’s life if it hadn’t become a hit. The singer, who recently became the first Punjabi singer to have 100 million views on his song Backbone, shares an anecdote, “I was left with only Rs 2 lakh and had no money for producing another song. While working on that song, I had thought that this would be the last song of my life if it didn’t become a hit. I would have had to leave singing. But luckily, that song led me to such heights that I’m still singing, and happy about it.”

Like Soch, Backbone is also a romantic song. Released by Sony Music, the song has been penned by Jaani and composed by B-Praak. “The composition of the song is very different and melodious,” says Hardy, adding that he hadn’t expected to reach a whopping 100 million mark with that song.

The Aashqui Te Loan singer, who has been a sensation in the Punjabi music scene, feels that having a good command over the language is very necessary. “Punjabi music has become very popular these days. A singer who has a good command over the language will definitely have an edge,” says Hardy, who finds singer Diljit Dosanjh inspiring. “Diljit is very motivated and I’m very inspired by him,” he says.
