Producer Isari Ganesh of Vels Film International recently faced a severe backlash for trolling Superstar Rajinikanth’s political entry in a scene in his last outing Comali and later removed it owing to the pressure from fans and Kamal’s advice.

Another film of his — Puppy, with comedian Yogi Babu, Varun and Samyukata Hedge in the lead, has also been dragged into controversy.

A. Selvam, state vice president of Shiv Sena, has lodged a case against the  Puppy crew for an unusual poster they released recently.  In his letter, Selvam alleges that the poster juxtaposing US porn actor Johnny Sins on one side of Yogi Babu and Varun and Swami Nithyananda, a promoter of Hinduism, on the other hurts the sentiments of Hindus. He added it may also provoke lewd thoughts in the minds of youngsters.

Puppy is reportedly a comedy film that revolves around a dog. The movie is written and directed by Nattu Dev aka Morattu Single.

The music is by Dharan Kumar. Incidentally, the makers, while releasing the motion poster, had posted an unusual tweet, which said, “@VelsFilmIntl’s Next, A Naughty #PuppyMotionPoster ! ‘Only For Murattu Singles’ ”

Trolling Rajini had led to enormous pre-promotion publicity for Comali and perhaps the makers can expect a similar hype for Puppy as well!

When contacted, Isari Ganesh said, “I also heard about it. As I am out of city on work, I am not fully aware of the issue. I can talk in detail only later.”  He added, “My banner is committed to do only good quality films.

Comali had a relevant message to the society. Puppy is also a fun film and the director is a debutant with lot of quirky ideas.”
