Veteran filmmaker Tobe Hooper, pioneer of horror films, passes away at 74
Hollywood's pioneer of horror genre, Tobe Hooper, has died in Sherman Oaks, California at the age of 74.

Los Angeles: Hollywood's pioneer of horror genre, Tobe Hooper, has died in Sherman Oaks, California. He was 74 years old.
According to Variety, the Los Angeles county coroner confirmed the filmmaker's death. The cause of his death is still unknown.
Hooper made two of the most distinguished films in the fright genre which set the movie world abuzz with movies like 'Poltergeist' in 1982 and 'The Texas Chain Saw Massacre' in 1974, one of the most influential films of the horror genre.
The legendary director was a native of Austin, Texas. He was a college professor and documentary producer before branching out to direct in 1974.
The late director is survived by two sons.
