Superstar Priyanka Chopra knows how to play her cards well. Her small budget Sikkimese movie, Pahuna, has become a known name on the global platform, ever since its first poster was unveiled at the Cannes film festival this month.

Pahuna’s director, Pakhi Tyrewala is all praises for producer PeeCee, and says that the film became bigger because of her presence.

“Because of Priyanka’s association, the film has become bigger than it’s supposed to be,” gushes Pakhi. “More than being practical, Priyanka is savvy. She’s not interested in the numbers; she wants to tell a story.”

Pakhi adds that the actress is not in this for the money. “Priyanka is not here to make money from Pahuna. When we do something like that, then you are making it for different reasons, apart from monetary ones. But we’re hopeful that the film will also make money,” she says.

Pahuna is a story of three Nepali children, who get separated from their parents while fleeing from Maoist agitation, and land up in Sikkim.

Ask Pakhi if we see Priyanka lending her voice to the movie, as she did for Ventilator, and the director smiles, “If she does, I will be happy. If she doesn’t, it’s okay. She wants to separate Priyanka the talent, and Priyanka the producer. There are no such plans as of now.”
