Hera Pheri over dates

Just two days ago the makers of Gulshan Kumar biopic Mogul announced its release date —Christmas 2019. And now we hear that Firoz Nadiadwala has been planning to release the third part of his comic franchise film Hera Pheri 3 on the same date.

It is to be noted that Akshay Kumar was the first choice for the role of Gulshan Kumar in the Subash Kapoor directorial, Mogul, but after a lot of differences he opted out of the film and Aamir Khan stepped in as a producer. Coming to Nadiadwala’s Hera Pheri 3 starring Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal and Suniel Shetty, there is a lot of action stored in at the box office.

Akshay was the hero of Nadiadwala’s Welcome and with Indra Kumar stepping in as the director for Hera Pheri 3, Firoz is keen to release it on the same date. Incidentally, it was also an Aamir film, Taare Zameen Par, that clashed with Welcome. And both the films went on to be hits.

“It is not a healthy sign, but then there are not too many dates in a year when films can release. No one wants to put their films in theatres when audiences do not populate them. The Welcome-Taare Zameen Par clash was 12 years ago and both films did well. Akshay and Bhushan may not be on great terms now, but the clash should ideally be avoided,” opines a trade source.
