Kajol is one actress who says it like it is. Never the one to mince words, be it her personal or professional equations, she opens up in a candid conversation. She gets right into the middle of things even as she starts.

“Having kids is not a sacrifice. Let me make it clear, I have borne two children, and it is my responsibility to look after them and give them the best. So, if I was away from work for a couple of years, it is not a sacrifice. It is my choice. My family is my priority, and I love my babies to death. I am a hands-on mom, and at the same time, I also love to work as and when some interesting projects come up,” she says in a matter of fact tone.

She continues as she talks about Ajay and her parenting style.  “Yes, Ajay and I have made a conscious decision to keep our kids away from the limelight of this glamorous industry. We want them to have a normal childhood, away from prying eyes and the pressure of being star kids. However, having said that, my kids are acutely aware of the fact that Ajay is an action hero in films. But at home, we both are just their parents,” Kajol emphasises.

Ask her the inevitable question if her daughter will choose films, and Kajol has a fabulous comeback. “My daughter is merely 14 years old. Tomorrow, if she decides to pursue films, we will give her the platform, but it must be her choice. And choice comes from freedom to pursue what one likes. Both my kids are too small to make such decisions. And they don’t need any pressure from either their parents or outsiders to get an instant answer on their future profession,” Kajol says politely but firmly.

We ask if we will ever see her and Ajay together in a film. “Why not? I hope we get an opportunity. As a real-life couple, we complement each other. Professionally, we both have our creative niches. So, if a script comes along that can connect the reel us to the real us, then you will see us together,” she states.

Lastly, we get her to talk about her strong political character Vasundhara in VIP 2. We ask if she is inclined towards politics down South. “I will never join Politics, be it North or South. I don’t understand it and what I don’t get, I never indulge in,” she concludes.
