Have you changed your religion, Kamal Haasan asks daughter Akshara on Twitter

Mumbai: It is not everyday that a person changes his or her religion, and it is rarer when it comes to celebrities.  

Converting to another religion in India is usually a topic raised by political parties more than anyone else, and is still perhaps seen as a taboo by the society.

While several popular celebrities like Muhammad Ali have converted to other religions, in the Indian film industry, it has mostly got to do with inter-caste marriages or second marriages.

That’s perhaps why the news of Kamal Haasan’s daughter Akshara 'converting' to Buddhism was surprising, to say the least.

So much so that Kamal himself chose to ask his daughter about it on Twitter, instead of a call or a text. He said he still loves her even if she has, stressing on the fact that love unlike religion is unconditional.

Akshara responded by saying that she is still an atheist and that she just ‘agrees’ with Buddhism as it is a way of life.

On the professional front, Akshara will next be seen in Ajith-starrer 'Vivegam' while Kamal Haasan is reportedly working on 'Sabaash Naidu' and 'Vishwaroopam 2.'
