Even though the actress has been stereotyped in motherly roles, she continues to play them with lot of heart.

Sneha Wagh has been playing mother to actors little younger than her on the screen. Even though the actress has been stereotyped in motherly roles, she continues to play them with lot of heart and without really caring about aging a bit too soon on the screen. We caught up with Sneha on the sets of her new show Sher-E-Punjab Maharaja Ranjit Singh and got her to spill the beans on her professional choices as well as her personal life. Excerpts:

You are playing a mother again in Maharaja Ranjit Singh. Don’t you get tired of being slotted in the motherly roles show after show?

How does it matter really? I am not focusing on the word ‘mother’. I am just focusing on the character I am playing and the entire execution of the show. We got goosebumps when we heard the narration. The story is wonderful, so why not? When I took up Veera, it was supposed to be a story of a woman and her illegitimate daughter but when show started, things changed as the creators felt the subject was too dark. And that is how it became a brother-sister story. I think it is karmic that this is happening to me and I’m glad to be part of the show.

Your bold music video created quite a stir. Why the makeover?

That album was made by a friend of mine. He asked me to do it and I readily obliged. I think I am famous in Punjab because of Veera. I was really into fitness, so I did it. Unfortunately, people were only talking about my bold avatar and not the song. In real life, I think I am intellectually bold; I don’t need to wear skimpy clothes to be hot.

Have your painful past experiences with relationships and marriage made you cynical about falling in love?

Yes, they have disillusioned me completely; no men for me at the moment. I don’t want to get into that same emotional torture of investing emotions. I just want to stay away. I am not shying away from love; I just don’t want to look for it right now. I am just keeping away. Love is not the focus or the only karma of one’s life.
