Ayushmann Khurrana fasts for his wife

This Karva Chauth, actor Ayushmann Khurrana has decided to turn tradition on its head by fasting for the longevity of his wife Tahira Kashyap, who has recently been diagnosed with Stage 0 breast cancer.

The actor has taken to Twitter to share a picture of his hand, with the Hindi letter “T” written on it in mehendi and said that since Tahira isn’t able to observe the fast, he had decided to do it for her.

When we call up the actor for more details, he says, “She started fasting because of my mother; her family doesn’t observe karva chauth. She wanted to do it this year as well to make my mother happy, but I told her that she didn’t have to.”

He adds, “Last year, both of us fasted for karva chauth, but this time she can’t fast because of her chemo. So I have decided to fast for her long life and good health.”

Actor Abhishek Bachchan has also announced that he will be keeping his wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan company this Karva Chauth by fasting along with her.
Asking husbands to be as devoted as their wives, he posted on Twitter, “#KarvaChauth, good luck ladies... And the dutiful husbands who should also be fasting with their wives! I do."
