Superstar Salman Khan has completed a milestone 30 years in the industry since making his debut with Biwi Ho To Aisi in 1988. Having witnessed his share of ups and downs, he has some extremely valuable advice for newcomers.

“Don’t play games, just be enthusiastic about what you want to do, be patient and don’t jump into anything,” he says, adding that it is better to do no work than to do bad work. “If there is no work coming your way, that’s fine. But the work you do should be good. And good work does come along in different forms — it could be movies, parallel cinema, TV, or digital series.”

The actor who’s all set to introduce his brother-in-law Aayush Sharma in the upcoming Love Yatri, has launched many a career in the past, and he calls it a “huge responsibility”.

“If the people you launch make it, it’s the best feeling in the world, but if they don’t, you shouldn’t stop working with them. New people will keep coming your way, but you should continue to work with those you’ve worked with in the past, because you must have seen something in them then,” he says.

Salman also believes that fate plays as important a role as talent in determining stardom and success. “Everyone wants to be a star, but some people are destined to get there, and some aren’t. Sohail and Arbaaz did not make it big as actors, but now they have their own production company and they are doing well for themselves,” he says.

Addressing the recent controversy that forced him to change the title of his upcoming film from Loveratri to Love Yatri, Salman says it’s no big deal.

“Initially, it came out as Loveratri, and there was nothing offensive about that title. We were making a very sweet, beautiful love story, like the films of the past. But some people were offended by the name, and they said it was wrong, so we changed it,” he says.
