Vishal best choice for Talvar franchise, says Meghna Gulzar

Meghna Gulzar is indisputably among the finest directors in Bollywood. She has always believed in telling stories in the most beautiful way. She pulled off a film like Talvar, which was one of the most critically acclaimed films of 2015. However, she will not be directing Talvar 2, the director says.

“No, I am not involved with that project because I also have another one on my hands and will be starting work on it soon,” Meghna said.

The second film in the Talvar franchise will take the original story forward. Titled Talvar 2, the film is expected to focus on a gruesome murder of a child in a Gurugram school. The film will be produced by Junglee Pictures and Vishal Bhardwaj. Bhardwaj will also be direct the second instalment.

Meghna says, “It is not a sequel and calling in Talvar 2 is not correct, according to me. I don’t think it is intended that way either, because what they are doing is carrying forward the franchise and brand Talvar and telling more stories in the true crime  genre.”

She added, “For me, it’s exciting because Vishal sir is telling the next story and who better than him to do it.”

Meghna is currently busy with Raazi, starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. The film is slated to hit the screens on May 11.
