It’s being planned that the film will go on floors within the next few months.
Even though Happy Phirr Bhaag Jayegi — a sequel to the hit film Happy Bhaag Jayegi hasn’t done well at the box office, producer Aanand L Rai is all set to bankroll another sequel — this time to the hit film Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, which not just garnered rave reviews but was also a box office hit despite having been made on a limited budget.
It’s being planned that the film will go on floors within the next few months. But Prasanna, the director of the first part, is currently working on a film produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur, and he’s unlikely to be available for a while.
“It will be interesting to see if Rai chooses to get a new director on board or wait for Prasanna. Rai himself directed the sequel to Tanu Weds Manu, and that film went on to make Rs 150 crore at the box office. So the idea of a sequel works for him,” says a source.
Interestingly, another sequel, Yamla Pagla Deewana: Phir Se, hits silver screens this week; following it are Total Dhamaal, Hera Pheri 3, Housefull 4, Baaghi 3, Student of the Year 2, and Sarfarosh 2, among others.
