The year 2016 was an eventful one for Pritam Chakraborty. The music director worked on films like Dangal and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, which went on to become chartbusters. Pritam however doesn’t want to take credit for his work. He believes that the film director too has a role to play for his body of work. He explains, “What you hear as a final product in music is not entirely music director's work. Any music director will try to give you his best effort, but a lot of times it is the collaboration which gives the song a shape.”

He admits that he has been lucky to work with personalities who are comfortable with his style. “I like working with directors who understand my style- I keep on changing the song, singers, music pieces and even acoustics. I deliver my best songs late at night, not because I am lazy, but because I am working on the song multiple times.”

One such director who works perfectly in tandem with him is Anurag Basu, says Pritam. “Anurag is a friend. My comfort level with him is high. So it is a breeze to work with him.”
