Deepika keeps me in check: Ranveer Singh

If there is one actor in the industry that never shies away from any questions, it is Ranveer Singh. In his recent live chat with footballer Sunil Chettri, the Gully Boy actor went candid talking about Deepika Padukone’s role in his life — right from calling Deepika his guide in the industry to spilling beans on how he wooed her.

Crediting his wife for guiding his career, the actor said, “When I started in showbiz, I didn’t know how things worked. She (Deepika) is much more evolved and mature than I am, she has seen more ups and downs in her career than I have, so she is a great guide and a pillar for me. She keeps me on track.”

Ranveer went on to reveal that he owes his career to Deepika because “I probably wouldn’t have been able to achieve the little that I have achieved in my career if it wasn’t for her.”

“I met her three years into the showbiz and been with her ever since. And it is because of her that I have been able to cope with the pressure of being a celebrity or a movie star. And to be frank, I would have wandered off, if she wouldn’t have been in my life,” he added.  

Further in the interview, as Sunil asked Ranveer as to how did he impress or rather woo Deepika, the Bajirao Mastani actor revealed he would always buy Deepika’s favourite flowers, lilies, every time he met her. The interview also revealed that Ranveer was sure about marrying Deepika after six months of dating. “In a nutshell, you could say I tried very hard to get her to consider marrying me. I knew she was way above my league so I had to work extra hard,” he smiled.
