With many states under siege, Johar is playing the wait-and-watch game.
While the nation goes up in flames with students protesting all across the country against the Government’s new citizenship act, the entertainment business has also seen dire consequences.
With Salman Khan-starrer Dabangg 3 opening much below expectations, we now hear that Karan Johar is contemplating postponing his upcoming film Good Newwz, which is scheduled to open on this Friday.
With many states under siege, Johar is playing the wait-and-watch game. “Karan is in constant contact with Akshay Kumar, who not only plays the lead in Good Newwz but is also the co-producer. Anything can happen in the coming days, and if the situation on the streets continues to be volatile, the film may be postponed,” says a source.
Meanwhile, a core member of the Good Newwz team says the rumours of a postponement are baseless. “I haven’t heard anything about the release date being shifted. Of course, the peace and well being of the country comes first. But tell me, what is an ideal time to release a film? Kahin na kahin kabhi na kabhi kuch na kuch toh hota hi rehta hai (Somewhere, sometimes, there’s always something happening). The important thing is for people to like a film.”
One can only wait and watch. It is a rapidly changing political scenario in our country right now. Cinema is dependent on what goes on in the streets.
