Actor Shakti Kapoor, who was primarily known for his negative performances in the ’90s, feels today’s film villains are no match for the bad guys of his heydays. Says Kapoor, “We don’t have the kind of villains that we had in our era. Villains like Pran, Amjad Khan, Prem Chopra and Amrish Puri don’t exist anymore. They had their own style. Villains always had an interesting part, but now that’s not the case.”

Recalling his phase as a struggler, Shakti says, “I have done more than 600 films. I feel grateful that I had a lot of opportunities. Sunil Dutt, Feroz Khan and Vinod Khanna had helped me during my initial days. I was jobless when I came to Mumbai and Sunil Dutt used to give me Rs 1500 every month. I stayed at Vinod Khanna’s house for five years. I will always be grateful to these people. I met with Feroz Khan in a car accident and that’s when he gave me my first film Kurbaani.” Shakti Kapoor will now be seen in Rangeela Raja with Govinda.

The actor is all praise for his daughter Shraddha. “The innocence is missing in the current breed of actresses. The innocence that Madhubala, Meena Kumari and Mala Sinha had I don’t see in other actresses. In the current breed, it is only Shraddha and Alia who have that innocence and are doing well for themselves. Shraddha especially resembled Meena Kumari in the film Aashiqui 2,” states Shakti.
