After the 68-day submission rule for all films that apply for a censor certificate, the animation film’s release date was to be stalled.

It seems like the Central Board Of Film Certification’s (CBFC) 68-day rule for getting films certified is infinitely mouldable. Barely two weeks after the CBFC declared it wouldn’t break the 68-day rule, films are allegedly being cleared out of turn.

The latest film to get special treatment is Walt Disney’s Coco, an animation film which was supposed to release soon. The film was initially denied certification in time for release, but has now, in an overnight move, been granted clearance.

A source in the know informs,  “The film was viewed by the CBFC on Wednesday afternoon. Initially, after the 68-day certification period was implemented it seemed impossible that Coco would get certified in time for its release on December 24. Suddenly the film was up for CBFC’s scrutiny on Wednesday. We believe Aamir Khan, who shares a very long and strong relationship with the CBFC chief Prasoon Joshi, had a hand in the decision.”

Aamir and Disney, the Coco producers, have been associated in the past, too. Dangal, his 2016 blockbuster was co-produced by Disney.
