Mumbai: After playing a simple wife in 'English Vinglish', Sridevi plays an intense character in her next film after almost five years.

The first trailer of Sridevi’s comeback film ‘Mom’, released few days back, was one of the most gripping ones seen in recent time.

How an act of crime involving Sridevi, her daughter, police officer Akshaye Khanna and the mysterious character of Nawazuddin Siddiqui, had brilliantly set it up for an extremely engaging suspense thriller in the first trailer.

The second trailer is also out, and the characters have further raised the intrigue factor surrounding the film.

Trailer 2 starts off at the same point trailer 1 had ended with Sridevi’s daughter asking her why she hasn’t informed ‘him’ that she was not her daughter.

The mysterious exchanges between Sridevi’s character and Nawazuddin’s DK continues in this one too, as the former tells him that no one will be able to tell what she feels when he tries to empathise with her.

The best part of the trailer, however, is towards the end when Sridevi fiercely tells a man that she remembers them telling her daughter to call her mother and she was now out to gain revenge for her.

Trailer 2 gives us a better idea about the plot and why Akshaye's character gets involved in the incident, but the mystery is still pretty much alive.

‘Mom’, directed by Ravi Udyawar and produced by Boney Kapoor among others, releases on 7 July.
