Sources say that the project is on, but details like the subject and SRK’s exact involvement are still under wraps.

The much speculated Shah Rukh Khan-Rajkumar Hirani collaboration has finally taken shape.

“The project is on, but the details are not known. It is not clear whether the project will star Shah Rukh, or if he will back it like what Vidhu Vinod Chopra used to do for all Hirani’s projects. Shah Rukh was, in fact, Hirani’s first choice to play Munnabhai, and he was also creatively involved with that film before he opted out due to his back problem,” says an industry source.

Interestingly, the credits of Munnabhai MBBS had a special message for the actor that read: “Special thanks to Shah Rukh Khan for his creative inputs in the film.”

Shah Rukh confirmed in a recent media interaction in Melbourne that he was talking to many writers and directors, as he was also looking to produce some projects. The actor, who was recently seen in a mystery Netflix commercial chatting up with a girl who pretended to be his manager Pooja, has apparently given the go ahead for the collaboration with Hirani.

If this works out, it will be the coming true of Hirani’s dream after 16 long years.
