Actress Sonam Kapoor on ageing, film industry and social media.
She is a fashionista and each time she appears for an event or parties, she takes her fashion quotient a notch higher. Almost all her outfits become the talk of the tinsel town. However, Sonam reveals that like any other normal human being even she repeats her clothes.
Sonam Kapoor says, “I repeat my clothes a lot and lot of clothes that I wear for promotions and all are borrowed. Certain things I have bought, so sometimes I buy, sometimes I don’t but I do repeat my clothes a lot.”
“My sister is my stylist so I am sorted. I do all of these because I do it for myself, I like clothes and I enjoy that,” she adds.
Ageing is one of the scary factors in actors’ lives. However, Sonam believes it is the most beautiful thing to happen.
“As actors, we should embrace ageing. We use our face to express things so every line in your face is something that you have earned. Whether it is through tensions or laugh lines, I have earned every day of my life,” she says and adds, “Ageing is one of the most beautiful things because you have gone through a journey and you have a story to tell. Youth is beautiful but you can only see true beauty after you are not young anymore because then the real you comes out. That encourages you and I have nothing against colouring your hair, wearing makeup just do it gracefully. I am not afraid of ageing. I don’t think men ever have that fear then why should women,” questions the 33-year-old actress.
Sonam is currently riding high on the success of her film Ek Ladki Ko Dekh Toh Aisa Laga.
Describing her journey by far, she says, “My journey has been great but I myself am a very boring person. I don’t go for parties, I wake up early, I sleep early, I don’t drink. I am with my husband or my family. I think, a lot of people who join this industry, which is very scary, live in that bubble that they are constantly hanging out with the film people. My world was different and separate and my professional journey didn’t affect me that much.”
The star kid who has closely witnessed the industry reveals, “Everybody in this industry is only friend with you when you are successful. So, you see that affects personal life also and that’s why the ups and downs are horrible for that person. But, because my friends are not from the film industry and family is such a force around me and my personal life is so stable that whatever happened in my professional life, of course, it hurts me but because I have that support system, it never morally took me down,” says the Neerja actress.
Sonam is extremely active on the social media platform and never hesitates to voice her opinion on several issues. However, that doesn’t mean she is addicted to social media madness. “I am active but I don’t feel handicapped without it because I have no addictions and that’s how it should be. You should enjoy it but you should be okay when it's not there. The only thing I am addicted to is chocolates,” the actress concludes.
