Deciding to do Anurag Kashyap’s Manmarziyan is perhaps the best decision Abhishek Bachchan has taken in a while. The actor, who hasn’t been seen on screen since Housefull 3 in 2016, is being lauded for his performance in Manmarziyan.
Producer Aanand Rai is so profoundly impressed by Abhishek’s performance that he has signed the actor for a multiple-film deal that comes into effect in 2019. Meanwhile, the buzz is that Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who was planning a biopic on the legendary poet-lyricist Sahir Ludhianvi for the second half of 2019, has decided to advance the project to the first half of the year. The film will feature Abhishek in the lead.
Says a source close to the development, “Sanjay is simultaneously working on two productions, one of them launching his niece Sharmin and the other is the Sahir biopic.” Alia Bhatt may be roped in to play Ludhianvi’s muse Amrita Pritam.
