Tusshar Kapoor saves the day for irate Rekha

She’s not known to make too many appearances, but when Rekha does make it to an event, it’s only fair to expect she’ll be treated with respect. And yet, when the veteran actress reached an awards function recently, she was left fuming. The reason? She couldn’t find a designated seat for herself.

So upset was Rekha, that she was on her way out of the function right away, a witness says. “It’s not wrong on her part to believe she deserves better than that. When she reached and saw that the seating arrangement was pretty random, she decided to leave right away. She was pretty furious. In fact, when she saw an eager guest, trying to shoot a video of her, she asked him to delete it. She stood there, without a seat for quite some time, before deciding to walk out,” says the witness.

Figuring the situation could get out of hand, the organisers tried to pacify her. “But she didn’t cool down, and sat at a table near the door. That’s when Tusshar Kapoor noticed what had happened, and politely walked up to her, and offered his own seat, next to his father Jeetendra. This was one of the special seats, which is where Rekha ji ideally should have been made to sit in first place,” the source says.

Rekha and Jeetendra are known to be the best of friends, and getting to sit with her friend finally cheered her up.

“But to be fair, it’s not just her, a lot of celebrities were left without seats because of the setup. Even Karan Johar was seen standing for a bit before finding a place to sit. And while Karan didn’t make a fuss about it there, he pointed it out later,” adds the source.

Our efforts to reach Farzana, Rekha’s closest aide, didn’t yield any results, but Tusshar shrugged it off, calling it a “normal thing”.
