Well, the lass is in town again for double celebrations. Her second Marathi film, Kay Re Rascala releases today and it is her 36th birthday. The actress also chose to give IIFA a miss. She smiles, “I wanted to be with my family and friends. We will be travelling to Pune to celebrate my birthday. Also, since my second Marathi film releases through my home productions, Purple Pebbles Pictures, I had to be here to support the new talent and my team.”

Priyanka Chopra has been invited to become a committee member of the Academy Awards. “Yes, it is a proud moment. I got invited, and I accepted the invitation. It was that simple, but I am grateful to the Academy for including people from diverse backgrounds around the world. We are asked for our opinions, and I was forthcoming. I mentioned that the Academy needs to open nominations for foreign language films beyond one category. I do hope that happens since there are such fantastic global films, including those from India that deserve a platform. It would be great to see homemade Indian films winning awards for their content and talent. I hope that change happens and I can contribute to that,” she says.

Making a global name for herself, Priyanka continues. “It is not easy to go to another country and start working. Wherever I go, I go without entitlement. I don’t go with a frame of mind that because I am someone, I need a particular kind of treatment. I am an artist, and when I go to another country, I have no problem introducing myself as Priyanka Chopra, an Indian actor to people.  It is not easy, but I am proud about my achievement. I have strived to be where I am, and this is the result of all that hard work,” Priyanka asserts.

On co-producing an American TV show with Madhuri Dixit, Pee Cee said, “I am developing a lot of things. As soon as I finalise something, I will share it with you. Nothing is finalised. I have spent about a year developing content ideas in Hindi, English and regional languages. I want to tell stories, digitally. There are many opportunities, and once I pick a direction to head in, I will let the world know,” she concludes.
