It was earlier reported that Vidya Balan was using her time off to prepare for her role in the upcoming biopic Aami, on feminist poet Kamala Das, who was known for her bold and honest treatment of female sexuality. The actress had taken to learning Malayalam under the guidance of Malayali film actress Sreedhnaya and was also digging deep into the poetess’ life through books on her life and works.

However, it would seem that all her language classes have been a run-up to nothing. Due to creative differences with the director apparently, Vidya has now opted out of Aami.

A source close to Vidya reveals, “Vidya has a tendency to sit with the director and writers, to discuss the nuances of the film and add in a few inputs but with Aami, the case was different. The actress respects the director and the entire team working on the film, but she was having creative differences with the director, which could not be worked out. So, she has opted out of the film.” When contacted, the actress’ spokesperson confirmed the news.
