This year has barely begun, and Kamal also lost a dear friend Om Puri.

2016 was not exactly kind to the mighty Kamal Haasan. Not only did he suffer a nasty fall, which left him with a multi-fractured leg and out of action for months, his partner Gautami Tadimalla also decided to leave him.

2017 has not been much kinder to the actor though. The family has been plunged into grief with the recent death of Kamal’s sister-in-law — elder brother Charuhasan’s wife. Says a source close to Kamal, “He is very close to his brothers Chandra and Charu. Though Kamal’s bhabhi was ailing for a while, the death has shattered Charuhasan. The entire family is trying to rally around him during this hour.”

It’s a trying time for the actor and his family. And it seems unlikely that he would return to acting and direction this month, as per earlier plans. Says a source, “Last year was bad enough for him. This year has barely begun, and Kamal also lost a dear friend Om Puri. His leg has also not healed completely. The comeback will take time.”
