The effect of overwhelmingly negative reviews have started showing on Aamir Khan’s latest Diwali offering.
Mumbai: Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan starrer Thugs of Hindostan has had a wonderful start at the box office with a collection of over Rs 50 crore at the domestic market on its first day. However, the Vijay Krishna Acharya directorial saw a considerable decline in its earnings on day 2.
According to a report in Boxoffice India, Yash Raj Films’ latest offering has earned an estimated Rs 28 crore net. The total two-day collection now stands at an approximate Rs 78 crore net, which is fine but is a fall notwithstanding.
Thugs of Hindostan was severely criticised by critics with a many of them calling it boring and forgettable. In her review, Deccan Chronicle critic Suparna Sharma said, "The film has Big B. It has the reigning king of box-office, Aamir Khan. It also has a taut-tummy, botox-lipped Katrina Kaif. And it has copied many of its things and characters from Hollywood biggies – a little from Game of Thrones, and lots and lots from Pirates of the Carribean. Joining this mess together are standard Bollywood cliches involving bad foreigners and good-hearted desis. And together they throw a mean challenge at the audience. Thugs of Hindostan, from Yash Raj Films, challenges you stay awake even as it goes from dreary to dismal to downright dud."
It looks like the effect of overwhelmingly negative reviews have started showing on the film.
Besides Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan, Thugs of Hindostan also has Katrina Kaif, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Ronit Roy in prominent roles.
